Drissa Foundation is a nonprofit organization promoted by Institut d’Asistència Sanitària and two entrepreneurs in 1999. Our main purpose is to improve the quality of life of people living with mental health issues, especially those with severe mental disorders.

In order to carry out the social objective of the organization, we have implemented two main lines of work: occupational integration and housing.

Employment is a remarkable therapeutic tool in order to fight the social stigma always associated with mental health issues. Moreover, it is one of the most empowering instruments in the process of social rehabilitation. However, there’s a very low chance that a person affected by mental health issues actually gets a decent and gainful employment. According to the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE) – Spanish National Statistics Institute, the annual report on “employment of people with disabilities,” 2018, mental health disorder is a type of condition with the lowest activity rate of 29.1%.

The housing service has been a much-needed solution to one of this collective’s most relevant needs.
